Navratri in 2013 starts from 5th October (Saturday) and will continue for 9 days until 13th October 2013(Sunday). Navratri festival celebrated for nine nights every year during the beginning of of October.

Navratri which called as "Nav""Ratri" is one of the greatest hindu festival. This festival celebrated in different ways throughout India.

The most colourful and renowned Navaratri festival celebrations can be seen in western India, throughout the state of Gujarat and in Mumbai. In West Bengal, Navaratri and Dussehra are celebrated as Durga Puja.

In western India, Navaratri is celebrated with nine nights of dancing. This traditional dances of Gujurat, known as "garba" and also "dandiya raas". Peoples dressed up colourful clothes and performed in circles with dancers. Small, decorated sticks called "dandiyas" are used in the dandiya raas. This traditional dance are very famous. People enjoy these nine days playing garba with friends and family.

Over the course of the nine days, people believe that the Mother Goddess is worshipped in her different forms --Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati.

Each goddess is worshiped for three days in turn, starts with Durga who destroys negative tendencies. Next is Lakshmi who bestows good virtues and fortune, and last is Saraswati, who instills wisdom and spiritual knowledge. The worship, accompanied by fasting in the mornings and evenings are for feasting and dancing.
